This week it is back to Warhammer with a Space Marine Attack Bike for my Salamanders.
This is a *cough* recast *cough* as these kits are pretty hard to come by for a reasonable price these days; and there are certainly some downsides. The ordering/payment process is “interesting” to say the least, but understandable to avoid the wrath of Big Mr James Workshop. This kit (along with some others) also took around 2 months to be shipped and delivered, but again this is to be expected considering my understanding is this is some dude just cranking these out
When it came to actually building this kit, it was a pretty rough experience – as I mentioned in my post about my outriders; the bike kits are some of the worst kits to put together I have ever experienced. This is made worse by the particularly thin and fragile plastic used for the creation of this recast model. Once it was together though – I reckon you’d have to look pretty hard to tell the difference.
Painting this was relatively simple – primed in Salamanders Green by Colour Forge, and then blocked in, washed and some very rough and scratchy highlights to give a nice cartoon-y style.
I based this model on the same sized base as I used for my Outrider ATV (yes, I know that model shouldn’t be based, but it looks better with one and also it’s just a plastic toy leave me be). This means that I can quite easily proxy it as an Outrider ATV, even though it is considerably smaller what with being first born and all!
