Another 3D printer experiment for this week. This 2nd Ed. captain from the 2nd Ed. Box Set was “acquired” from the purple 3D printer file site; spurred on by a friend of mine spotting in a charity shop (and helping me to acquire) an almost complete Warhammer 40,000 2nd Edition Box Set for the mad price of 80 quid!
Although the box no longer had any of the books with it, it did still have all of the cardboard terrain, blast templates and most importantly, all of the models! I’ve always loved the bright colours and campy atmosphere of early Warhammer 40,000, so I immediately jumped on the chance to own it.
This model was printed mainly so that I would have some leader options (I have an era-appropriate chaplain, librarian and apothecary but no captain) but also so that I could test some colour schemes without wasting or damaging a much more valuable model.
I’ve not actually painted any of the real models I have from this box yet, but I am 75% sure that Novamarines will be my chapter of choice for the Space Marine contingent (but, there is always the alure of bright red Blood Angels!)
